Dr. Jamuna Pai’s Secrets to a Peach and Cream Complexion

Better known to most as a Celebrity Cosmetic Physician, Dr Jamuna Pai is an author, educator and pioneer of Cosmetology in India.

The Chairperson and Founder-Blush Clinics not only makes others look good, she has a stunning peach and cream complexion herself. Here is her wellness regime that you can also try out for a beautiful you:

Daily Regime

The mantra is to eat at short intervals while at work. I am neither an early riser nor an early sleeper.

• My day starts at 8.30 am. Breakfast consists of tea with milk but without sugar, vegetable juice, two toasts with egg whites (on other days, protein powder to make up for proteins)/idli/dosa/upma.
• At 11 am, a snack of yoghurt with skimmed milk.
• Lunch at 1 pm comprises two phoolkas, two sabjis and salads.
• Tea at 4pm is with two biscuits and khakras. Then its apple or pear at 6 pm.
• An early dinner between 8-8.30 pm comprises rice, dal and sabjis.
• I take a body massage with coconut oil, drink three litres of water and always cleanse my skin of all make-up before going to sleep. I also walk 7km at home between 9-11 pm.
• My daily dose of multivitamins consists of iron, antioxidants, fish oil capsules 1000 mg, Vit C 1000 mg, zinc and magnesium. I also have Co-Enzyme Q10 Omega free flex, Glucosamine, chondroitin for familial Osteo-Arthritis.
• I pray and meditate for at least 30 minutes everyday.

Wellness Resolution

• Yoga
• Weight training-Need to add strength training considering that age is a certainty and inevitable
• Early to bed and early to rise
• Add more fruits/juices to diet
• Concentrate on alkalising my system
• Learn to relax a bit and keep a little ‘me time’

Favourite Fragrances and Lipstick Shades

Tuberose and anything with Jasmine notes are my favourite fragrances. I prefer a pink shade of lipstick at work.

Looking Good for parties

• Apply a hydrating facemask for a few minutes.
• Apply a leave-on conditioner and wrap your hair with a hot towel. Leave on for 20-30 minutes.
• Orange can be the new red. The trick lies in finding the correct shade of orange lipstick/nail colour as per your skin tone.
• A bold lip colour, like orange or red, is too much when paired with smoky eyes so it’s best to compliment them with a subtle nude lip color and a coat of clear gloss.
• A mascara finishes off every look, and even on your most natural looking days, a bit of mascara and lipgloss can take you very very far.

Home remedies from No One Has To Know

One magic word repeated three times: Exfoliate. Exfoliate. Exfoliate. It not only takes off the topmost layers of dead skin, it also gets rid of the build up of dirt, sebum (oil secreted by the sebaceous glands) and other germs and bacteria that are trapped in our pores and helps reveal a glowing and radiant skin.

Exfoliating face mask for dry skin:
Make a paste out of 2 tbsps of honey (it’s a humectant and helps to retain moisture), 2 tbsps of castor oil and 1 tbsp of crushed oats. Leave on for 5-7 minutes before washing off with water and patting dry.

Wellness Tips for women over 40

The philosophy ‘wait until you actually look old to make a change’ does not hold good any longer. The new trend is to hold on to younger looking skin longer by following an anti-ageing regime from a younger age. I am referring to the beauty calendar from my book for women over 40.

Beauty tips for working women

Set aside 10 minutes for taking care of your skin. A sunscreen, moisturiser and a night repair cream have to be an integral part of the skincare regime on a daily basis and should find way in your bag.

Besides this, you need to exfoliate your skin once a week or at least in 10 days. Exfoliation helps remove the unwanted dead skin cells which make the skin look dull and tired. A regular clean-up or facial once a month can help hydrate and rejuvenate your skin.
