Nothing is more terrible than stress, releasing the cortisol hormone that stiffens our joints, clogs the mind and makes the days burdensome. Spa days tell you to take a backseat, make room for self-care and say goodbye to gloom.

Pulling myself out of a burnout, stress and depression, I took up the invitation to enjoy a spa therapy at Neo Veda spa, The Metropolitan Hotel & Spa, New Delhi.  This 60-minute serenity escape proved to be the ultimate detoxification and relaxation retreat.

Tranquil Surroundings

Spas are places for hushed tones, light décor, urlis (bowls) filled with water and fresh flower petals, fragrant candles and warm welcomes. Neo Veda Spa with its soothing music and warm smiles proved to be that relaxing retreat for the day.

Personalized and Attentive Service

Prioritizing personalized service, the counsellors wanted to know what kind of massage I liked and if I had special needs such as a more painful part. The nape, I said. I was recommended a Balinese massage, head to toe with aromatic oils and moderate pressure.

The menu is extensive. The therapists are trained professionals with a deep understanding of various relaxation techniques. They listen attentively to your concerns and tailor their approach accordingly, making you feel truly taken care of. There are light massages such as Swedish massage, moderate ones and hard ones such as deep tissue massage. Then there are Ayurvedic massages. There are special facials and bath rituals along with scrubs. The spa has a special couple massage as well.

Guided to a locker room, I was handed a big brown towel robe and slippers. My hair knotted, I walked with Susanne into the designated therapy room with soft music, aromatic fragrances tingled my nose. The phone on silent, I lay face down, ready to drift into the world of dreams.

With her soft hands, a shy Susanne kneaded my knotted muscles, first with my back covered with a towel and then with oil. I slowly forgot about the surroundings.

The totally immersive experience took 60 minutes, but I could have slept off the entire afternoon. Then I took a steam bath, had a cool shower, enjoyed a cup of green tea, before looking at my shining face. I was happy with my serenity escape and glowing skin.

Why every woman deserves a spa day

Did you know that spa is a spring or resort with thermal or mineral water used for drinking and bathing? It originates from a town near Liège, Belgium, which was known for its curative mineral springs.

  2. Aromatherapy is something which I am completely in love with. Many call me mad for that as they dont find any reason to believe that Aroma can actually rejuvenate our mind and body. I always have a strong inclination towards something that smells good, I am a die heart fan of good perfume and essential oils. Still date if someone is crossing me, be it a man or a woman using good perfume I literally turn back to see who the lady or guy is. That’s my way of appreciating their choice of fragrance. Especially during headache and when I am stressed or super tired I find peace in aromatherapy. It soothes my inner soul and makes me feel relaxed. Now about massage …. I badly need one dear but not comfortable to go for one in spa…. you can call it my spy cam scam going all around insecurity. I need someone who can give me a good one at home. As you said spa is not a luxury but a need of our body which many of us unknowingly ignore and gave it a tag of luxury. By the way you look so relaxed, happy and energized after the spa. Love that smile on face.

    1. So a spa in a reputed 5-star is something that can be done without worries. And they have good masseuse also. I also love fragrances and like a lot of them around me. I find them.very exhilarating.

  3. Who doesn’t love spas? I mean, others might not want the thought of others touching their body but in todays stresses of daily life, or even simply that agony everyone feels between their nape and shoulders because of too much use of our phones…haha…who wouldn’t want a massage! I terribly want one now.

  6. You look relaxed in your after pic. So many people have recommended I try a massage but I am not comfortable with it. I can surely try other spa options.

  7. That’s a great spa you have experienced. It is rare for me but I do enjoy it. You look so relaxed after it. I need it desperately right now. I used to get regular massages once a month in my hometown but here it is very expensive.

    1. At last! I have not been to many spas but a monthly massage was routine for many years in my home town. But when I go on a vacation and there is a spa in the hotel I do indulge myself. You are glowing after the spa. That’s what a spa does- it makes you feel good, isn’t it?
